Qualification & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related field.
Minimum 16+ years of experience in Environment, Health & Safety within the Pharmaceutical Industry.
Key Responsibilities
1. Legal Compliance
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements related to Environment, Health & Safety.
Monitor pharmaceutical environmental parameters (ETP inlet/outlet, air emission, ETP sludge, ambient air quality, noise, employee health checkups).
Manage environmental permits, SDS (Safety Data Sheets), and hazardous material compliance.
2. Environmental Management
Implement and audit ISO 14001: Environmental Management System.
Oversee waste management (hazardous & non-hazardous), recycling, air & water quality monitoring.
Manage emission and effluent monitoring systems (ETP, STP, air scrubbers).
3. Occupational Health & Safety
Implement ISO 45001 / OHSAS 18001 systems.
Conduct risk assessments using HIRA, JSA, FMEA.
Promote Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), conduct incident investigations & root cause analysis.
Ensure compliance with LOTO, machine guarding, confined space safety standards.
4. Emergency Response & Fire Safety
Manage fire safety systems (sprinklers, detectors, alarms, hydrants).
Lead ERP (Emergency Response Planning) and conduct mock drills.
Oversee hazardous material spill control and first responder training.
5. Equipment & Process Safety
Ensure machinery safety in ophthalmic pharma machinery & packaging lines.
Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) including HAZOP studies.
Oversee safety interlocks, automation controls, and fail-safe mechanisms.
6. Training & Auditing
Design and deliver EHS training programs across the organization.
Conduct internal audits (Lead Auditor certification in ISO 14001/45001 preferred).
Manage CAPA systems and non-conformance closure.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, risk assessment, and audit processes.
Hands-on experience in pharma industry safety practices.
Excellent leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Proficiency in handling statutory inspections and liaising with regulatory authorities.
